I found my business on Firmy.cz even though I never added it. What now?

It isn't a mistake and nobody stole anything. Seznam creates some listings itself from public registers. The result is a profile with a name, company ID (IČO) and address — and nothing else. No category, no opening hours, no photos, no description. Such a listing usually carries the note Zatím neověřená firma (“not yet verified business”).
How often it happens
Of the 43 Prague businesses we went through this way, four had a profile created without the owner knowing — just under ten percent. Almost half, 44 %, had no Firmy.cz profile at all. The rest had created one themselves.
Why it matters
An unverified profile behaves like a full listing in search results: someone searching for “autoservis Praha 5” will see it. But they'll see an empty card — no phone, no opening hours, not a single photo. And since the name and address match, they won't realise nobody stands behind it.
The second problem is worse and shows up later: the address in the register doesn't have to be your premises. A listing created from the register shows the registered office (sídlo) — often a flat or an accountant's virtual address. That's where the customer will go.
What to do
- Find the profile. Search firmy.cz for your business name or IČO. If nothing comes up, try the name of your premises too — the listing may exist under your shop sign rather than your legal name.
- Claim it. The listing has a link for claiming the business. Seznam checks that you're an authorised person — usually via the contact in the register or by phone.
- Fill in what's missing: category, opening hours, phone, your premises' address instead of the registered office, description and photos.
- Check whether you have the same on Google. On Google Maps a similar listing comes about differently — from user suggestions. For an unclaimed profile Google shows the invitation “Own this business?”; if you see it, nobody manages the profile.
What happens if I leave it
Nothing dramatic and nothing good. The profile stays empty, keeps showing up and says about you what's in it — which is almost nothing. Claiming it is free and takes less than an hour.
